About N8 Excavation

Successful projects, through great people, making a positive impact.

That's not a slogan we bolted on — it's the operating principle N8 has run on since day one. Everything below is how we try to live up to it.

Our Story

Built during a recession. Built to last past any one person.

2008

Founded in the recession

Nate Holmlund started N8 Excavation in the depths of the 2008 recession — no soft market to lean on, just the work. That scarcity shaped how the company still operates today: self-perform, control the schedule, earn the next job on the last one.

2014

Blake Turin joins to run operations

As the workload grew, Blake Turin came on to manage day-to-day operations — bringing the systems and structure needed to take on larger, more complex site-development work.

2018

Blake becomes a partner

Blake's role formalized into a partnership, cementing N8 as a two-person leadership team rather than a single-founder operation.

Today

Systems over any one individual

N8's stated future strategy is straightforward: keep building the systems and procedures that let the company deliver successful projects independent of any single person — so clients get consistency, not a bus-factor of one.

Our Crew

The team, on (and off) the job.

Taking Care of Our Crew

People stick around when they're treated right.

Self-performed work only works with people who want to be here. That means recognizing the crew, not just the schedule.

Years of Service

Recognizing tenure and loyalty — the people who've been with N8 the longest are the backbone of how the company runs.

Safety Milestones

Clean safety records don't happen by accident — crews who hit them get recognized for it, not just held to it.

Team Events

Cookouts, end-of-season gatherings, and time together off the clock — not just another line item on a schedule.

Training & Growth

Support for certifications and new equipment training — the same path that took Blake from operations hire to partner.

What We Run On

Three words. One standard for every job.

01

Successful Projects

On schedule, on spec, and coordinated so the trades behind us aren't waiting. Success is measured by the next call, not just the last invoice.

02

Great People

Self-performed work means our crews are the company. We invest in training, safety, and keeping good people around for the long haul.

03

Positive Impact

On the client's project, on the site's environment, and on the crews and communities we work in and around.
